Healthcare & Bioethics Research Cluster
Co-ordinator: Marie Fox
This programme takes the regulation of healthcare as a focus for thinking about the legal inscription of gender and sexuality. It takes a broader view of healthcare law, assessing how an appreciation of feminist and queer theory can add depth and texture to our understanding of a variety of topics which might seem, at first glance, to have little to do with gender and sexuality. The project seeks to move beyond such traditional concerns as maximising autonomy and preventing harm, to ask how such concepts are being challenged by technological change and social organisation in the realm of gender and sexuality.
