Proposals to outlaw Sexual Orientation Discrimination
in the Provision of Goods & Services
On 13 March 2006, the DTI launched a consultation on
proposals to outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual
orientation in the provision of goods and services.

Tackling Human Trafficking - Consultation on proposals
for UK action plan
On 5th January 2006 the Home Office launched a public
consultation to seek views on the proposed areas for
action to tackle human trafficking.

Forced Marriage - A wrong not a right
On 5th September 2005 the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office and the Home Office jointly launched a public
consultation on whether to create a new criminal offence
relating to forced marriage.

Consultation on the Human Fertilisation and Embryology
Act
The Government announced in 2004 that it intended to
review the provisions of the Human Fertilisation and
Embryology Act 1990 (the HFE Act), including holding
a public
consultation exercise in 2005.

Increasing Diversity in the Judiciary
In October 2004 the Department for Constitutional Affairs
published a Consultation Paper Increasing
Diversity in the Judiciary. This consultation paper
set out proposals on how the judiciary of England and
Wales can be made more reflective of society today.

Fairness for All: A New Commission for Equality and
Human Rights
In May 2004, the Government produced a white paper
entitled 'Fairness
for All: A New Commission for Equality and Human Rights.'
This white paper set out initial proposals for a new
equality body, which is expected to come into operation
in 2006. The new body will combine the roles of
the current equality bodies - The Commission for Racial
Equality, The Equal Opportunities Commission, and The
Disability Rights Commission. It will also have responsibility
for overseeing legislation on sexual orientation and
religion or belief, and for promoting human rights.
