Lara is a Reseach Assistant with Tizard, investigating the impact austerity has had on services for those with intellectual disabilities. She achieved a first class honours in BSc Psychology from the University of Reading in 2015. She has since been awarded a scholarship by CHSS to undertake a MSc in Applied Health Research at the University of Kent.
Lara has previously volunteered in an Autism Diagnostic Unit, compiling paperwork for referrals and assisting in diagnostic assessments. Whilst at University she acted as a 1:1 mentor for a young child with learning disabilities and alongside this was a carer for those with a range of complex needs. She has worked for the past couple of years supporting vulnerable people within the local community through her role within Kent County Council. Lara also works for a youth charity, supporting disadvantaged and disabled adolescents to access mainstream youth clubs across Kent. Her past experience has motivated her to pursue involvement in research that seeks to improve services and quality of life for those with learning disabilities.back to top
