Supporting our neighbouring species

  • Please put your litter in the bin - litter spoils our campuses for many reasons. It looks unsightly and is dangerous to our wildlife that can get caught in it or end up with it in their stomachs.
  • If you want to feed wildlife on campus please take some time to research the best food for them. Waterfowl like our ducks and moorhens should not be fed bread. Please do not feed the Herring Gulls.
  • If you feed the birds with bird seed in feeders please try and rat proof your feeder as to not promote large populations of vermin.
  • Our campus is full of wild mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, please don't try and catch them!
  • If you spot an animal in trouble, please contact Estates Customer Services

Quotation

An image of Gerald Durrell with 2 lemurs on his shoulders

“Until we consider animal life to be worthy of the consideration and reverence we bestow upon old books and pictures and historic monuments, there will always be the animal refugee living a precarious life on the edge of extermination."

Nature Trails

There are a number of nature trails around the campus that we would encourage you to find. We are currently in the process of updating all the trail postings and information but in the meantime please do explore and let us know if your spot anything interesting out there!
