This week there are chances to enhance your wellbeing and de-stress during exams, as well as opportunities to learn new skills.

Reminder: KentVision will be unavailable on Tuesday 14 May, from 08:00-10:00, due to planned maintenance. You will not be able to access your exams timetable during this time so make sure to check it before. 

Monday 13 May: Relaxation sessions (Medway), friendship bracelet making and Sign Language Class for Beginners

Take a moment to relax during exams with a relaxation session at The Hub. Choose between a 15-minute massage or a gel nail manicure.

Grab some thread and beads and make friendship bracelets in the Venue as part of Kent Union’s Give it a Go programme.

Learn a useful new life skill by joining this Sign Language Class for Beginners. Sign language instructor Luis will be teaching the basics of sign language.

Tuesday 14 May: LGBTQIA+ Neurodivergent Coffee Morning and improve your LinkedIn skills

On Tuesday, there’s an LGBTQIA+ Student Voices Neurodivergent Coffee Morning. Come for a free hot drink and a chat about how Kent could be better for our neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ community.

Wednesday 15 May: Look After your Mate workshop, Exam Room Experience (Medway), Pause for Paws and Quiz Night at Woody’s

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Kent Union is running a couple of Look After your Mate workshops. These aim to give you the practical skills and knowledge to support a friend in need whilst protecting your own wellbeing.

At Medway, you can join the Exam Room Experience on Wednesday to give you an opportunity to explore your own stress response and learn techniques with how to deal with them.

Take a break from revision and exams with Pause for Paws. Enjoy a cuddle with Coco the therapy dog.

On Wednesday evening there’s a Quiz Night in Woody’s. Entry is £1 per person with proceeds going to Men’s Shed, a mental health initiative for men. This will be a fun-filled evening with monetary prizes up for grabs.

Thursday 16 May: Finding disability confident employers, Psychometric Testing workshop and Look After your Mate workshop

On Thursday there’s an online session about finding disability confident employers. Disability can include many things such as long-term physical or mental health conditions, short-term serious conditions and neurodivergence.

Graduate recruiters such as PWC will use selection tests as part of their recruitment process and succeeding in these tests is therefore essential for applicants. Join this in-person Psychometric Testing workshop to find out what these tests involve and hints and tips to maximise your potential.

The second of Kent Union’s Look After your Mate workshop is running today. The workshops are open to all students whether you are currently supporting a friend, want to be prepared for the future or just have a keen interest in wellbeing.

Friday 17 May: Relaxation session (Medway), Kent Community Oasis Garden and Medway Activities Awards

On Friday there’s another chance to join the relaxation sessions at The Hub. Choose between a 15-minute massage or a gel nail manicure to help you to de-stress during exam season.

Get outside and volunteer at the Kent Community Oasis Garden. There are open volunteering sessions every Wednesday and Friday 10:00-14:00.

Friday evening is the Medway Activities Awards 2024 at The Hub. It’s a night of celebration and recognition for the vibrant community of societies and sports clubs at Medway.

Saturday 18 May: BioBlitz

On Saturday, the annual University of Kent BioBlitz is back. Run by students in the School of Anthropology and Conversation, this is a day packed with nature surveys, walks and workshops, with the aim to record as many living species as possible in 24 hours. You can sign up for different activities and join for as long as you want.
