Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research

Making sense of the social world

Supervisors: Dr Erin Sanders-McDonagh and Dr Marian Duggan

I am a PhD Candidate at the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) on a Vice Chancellor Scholarship. In 2012 I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Services with an expertise in mental health care counselling at The Hague University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. I subsequently worked at The Hague University as a lecturing assistant on modules such as Human Rights & Social Work within the Faculty of Social Work & Education. I undertook my Master’s in Sociology at the University of Kent in 2015/2016, hereafter applying for and being awarded a position of doctorate student from September 2017 onwards.

I engage with SSPSSR’s Gender, Sexuality and Culture research cluster. My research interests lie within feminist theory, queer theory, gender and sexuality based violence and exclusion, and feelings of belonging. I have further interest in visual sociology, affect theory, and cultural criminology.
