About

Megan graduated with a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Kent in 2015. She subsequently completed a MSc in Sport Science for Optimal Performance graduating with distinction in November 2016 at the same institution.

Megan gained a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Kent in 2021. Her PhD thesis entitled ‘The efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation to enhance endurance exercise performance’ was supervised by Dr Lex Mauger and Professor James Hopker. During this time, she also worked as an Assistant Lecturer teaching students across stages 1 to 3.

Following her PhD, Megan spent 8 months with the department of Digital and Life Long Learning at the University of Kent. Here she was responsible for the creation learning content for modules on the MSc Applied Drug Discovery and Development Programme. Megan joined the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences as a lecturer in January 2022. Outside of the department, Megan has provided physiological support to a range of amateur and elite athletes from sports including Football, Triathlon, Running and Swimming.

Research interests

Megan’s main research interests focus are centred around two main themes: (1) the impact of neuromodulation on endurance performance and (2) the role of exercise-induced pain in fatigue and endurance performance. Some of her recent work has investigated the effect of acute and chronic applications of transcranial direct current stimulation on the physiological adaptations to training and endurance performance.
