Our health and fitness consultation service is a great way to ensure that you achieve maximum benefit from your workout. Our qualified instructors offer an initial 1-2-1 fitness consultation to discuss your lifestyle and agree a way forward to achieve your goals. The service includes a variety of inductions, assessments and programmes tailored to suit your needs.

Initial fitness consultation
The initial fitness consultation is your prerequisite to all other appointments and involves a 30 minute 1-2-1 consultation with a fully qualified instructor who will review your exercise experience, medical history, current health and fitness goals and then offer advice to determine an exercise path to meet your needs. Please be aware that you do not need to be in sports clothes for this consultation. The initial fitness consultation starts from £6 and are bookable daily from the Sports Centre reception.
Our professional fitness assessment package involves a series of proven tests conducted by a fully trained instructor that will provide useful benchmarks and targets for improving fitness. The 60 minute 1-2-1 screening includes resting readings, sub maximal and maximal testing options to suit your needs. You will receive advice and a report detailing blood pressure, body mass index, body composition, aerobic capacity, flexibility, lung age and muscular endurance via a battery of proven tests. Your fitness assessment needs will be determined at your initial fitness consultation and the assessment appointment starts from £11.
Following your initial fitness consultation and needs analysis, your exercise programme session will include full prescription, demonstration and delivery of a personalised exercise routine for you to follow both in and out of the Fitness Suite. Your programme will be built around your goals and commitment to exercise and will include a programme card for you to follow as you train. Your instructor will check understanding and ensure you are able to perform all prescribed exercises safely, correctly and effectively maximising the chance of you achieving your health and fitness goals. Kent Sport will in future offer 1-2-1 training with a qualified trainer who can develop a bespoke exercise programme to help clients achieve their goals.
A personal trainer can assess exactly how you should exercise, plan how often you should exercise, and at what intensity level.
Working with a personal trainer for a few sessions can help you learn the right way to exercise so you maximise your time and effort and are equipped with knowledge that will be invaluable going forward so you can exercise effectively on your own. A personal trainer will add variety to your workouts and bring a fresh perspective and challenging exercises. Our personal trainers will boost your motivation, encouraging you to commit to the training plan and your goals.

This service is bookable without attending an initial fitness consultation and includes a more focused review or your nutritional habits and provides advice on healthy eating and lifestyle. Your 1-2-1 appointment with the nutritional team will involve an initial dietary analysis and food diary exercise for you to complete. The team will also be able to assess your current nutritional habits and provide useful guidance on improving healthy eating, lifestyle balance and exercise prescription. The team may also recommend our Commit to Nutrition Plan that will offer further personalised support and guidance on achieving a balanced diet for the long term. Cost from £10.
Commit to nutrition plan
Following your initial nutritional consultation your instructor may recommend this new service involving a series of 1-2-1 appointments, assessments and exercises set up to help achieve a balanced diet and active lifestyle. Your needs will be assessed by the nutrition team who will then structure a series of further appointments for you to commit to over a period of time agreed by you. Each session will be tailored to your needs and will conclude with a review of your progress and options going forward. TheCommit to Nutrition Plan starts from £25 for student members.
