Inspired Teaching Cutting Edge Research

Student Success Project

Phase 1 of the Student Success (EDI) Project was a two year project involving nine pilot schools, all working to investigate student success differences and putting in place activities to support all students. The Project aim was to promote student equality by undertaking substantial research with students and staff within SMFA to identify key issues and using our findings to develop activities to support student success. The success of Phase 1 has lead to the Project being rolled out across other Schools at Kent and the University of Kent won the Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Support for Students.

We want every student to reach their potential and get the best degree they can. We are committed to making that happen.

Over the two years the Project ran in SMFA we incorporated several new initiatives to foster an environment where students were supported and encouraged. These initiatives included:

· Peer Mentoring
· Student led events – Wetlands and Fun Palace
· Meditation and Massage
· Summer School
· Music Theory
· Skills Workshops
· Guest lectures
