The University of Kent has formal partnerships with three local FE Colleges, Canterbury College, Mid Kent College and West Kent and Ashford College. We also work with East Kent College which is a member of the Kent and Medway Progression Federation.
There are two main elements to the University’s partnerships with FE Colleges. Almost 700 students in the three partner colleges are studying on university level programmes which are franchised and validated by the University of Kent. More information about this work can be found at http://www.kent.ac.uk/partnercollege/. In addition the University also delivers elements of the Partner Schools Curriculum to FE and Access students studying in local colleges. These include a tailored stepping up programme, information talks and subject specific events and activities which aim to raise aspiration and improve attainment. The programme of activities is designed to:
- Help students decide if University is for them
- Introduce students to a range of academic subjects
- Assist students with their UCAS applications
- Help students to develop the skills needed in higher education.
