Professional Career Development Loans

The University of Kent is a Professional and Career Development Loans registered Learning Provider, registration number [8353].

A Professional and Career Development Loan is a commercial bank loan that you can use to help pay for work-related learning.

To be eligible candidates must: 
  • Be 18 or over 
  • Be a British citizen 
  • Have been living in the UK for at least 3 years before your course starts
    plan to work in the UK, European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) after the course

    Which courses qualify?
    Courses must: 
    • Only last up to 2 years, or 3 years if they include 1 year of work experience 
    • Be provided by an organisation on the Professional Career and Development Loan Register - check with your course provider 
    • Help with your career - they do not have to lead to a qualification 
    You cannot get Professional and Career Development Loans for first full-time degrees but you can apply for student finance.

Call the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900 to find out whether a loan is the best option for you. (Find out about call charges or request a call back.)

Apply 2 months before your course starts to give the bank enough time to process your application. Do not apply more than 2 months ahead, as your application will not be accepted..
