The Larry Grant Scholarship

The scholarship provides up to £2,500 and tuition fees paid at the Home/EU rate

Kent Law School invites applications for the Larry Grant Scholarship, established to commemorate the life and work of former Kent Law Clinic Legal Director Larry Grant.  The scholarship provides up to £2,500 and tuition fees paid at the Home/EU rate for successful scholarship applicants who intend as part of an LLM by research degree to carry out research in the areas of clinical legal education, human rights, immigration or social justice, commencing in September 2019 and offered at the Canterbury Campus.  Further details can be found on The Larry Grant website  

Criteria

  • Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the academic excellence of the candidate, the research proposal and the suitability of the project, with special reference to the implications for legal practice arising from the research.  Financial need may also be taken into account. 
  • Applicants should normally have obtained, or be about to obtain an undergraduate degree at a high Upper Second Class Honours level (2:1 or equivalent from other countries), or a postgraduate degree with Merit or Distinction.




How to apply

Candidates must apply for a place to study for a postgraduate degree at the University through the online application process .  As part of their application candidates should supply a research proposal of no more than 1500 words (excluding bibliography) to include special reference to the implications for legal practice arising from their research, as well as a sample of their written work (not exceeding 4,000 words – longer texts will not be read). 

Candidates must also upload to their online application a letter making a case for the award.
