- Dr Alex Grainger
Dr Alex Grainger originally trained as a political scientist at London School of Economics (PhD, 2014). Previously he taught South-east Asian Politics in the Department of Politics and International Studies at SOAS. Alex's current research is focused on issues related to energy, infrastructure and the environment in maritime South-east Asia, especially Indonesia and Timor-Leste, in which latter country he worked as a researcher for four years from 2004. Dr Grainger maintains a strong interest in comparative historical approaches to the study of politics as it relates to his areas of interest.
Dr Grainger became a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School in 2016, working on Dr Judith Bovensiepen’s project, 'Anticipating prosperity: A study of community expectations and the petroleum industry in Timor-Leste'.
