Research and innovation

Kent Innovation & Enterprise (KIE) supports links between research and external organisations such as business, government and the third sector.  KIE provides advice on a range of funding streams – please see the KIE website for more information.  Through KIE you can also access Enterprise and Impact Training and join the Kent Enterprise and Impact Network (KEIN).

Enterprise training

Through Enterprise and Impact Training you will gain the knowledge, confidence and practical tools necessary to engage successfully in enterprise activities. This course is complemented by the Kent Enterprise and Impact Network (KEIN). Through the network's termly sessions participants have the opportunity to learn about enterprise and impact in an informal environment and to connect with like-minded colleagues.

Research impact

The half-day event ‘Maximise Your Research Impact’ was held for the first time in May 2015.  This was an opportunity for Kent researchers to explore the opportunities there are for achieving research impact and some of the challenges.

With workshops on commercial, policy, cultural and media impact; networking opportunities; resources for researchers to raise their profiles and keynote speakers:-

  • Maximising your research impact (Dr Jane Tinkler, LSE)
  • What are funders really looking for? (Dr Steven Hill, HEFCE Head of Policy)
  • Open access – the direction of travel (Prof Stephen Curry, Imperial College)
  • Impact with social media (Prof Andy Miah, University of Salford)

For more information on future similar events please contact Research Services.
The event also drew on lessons from Kent’s research impact success in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.
