Jacky's research interests are in the study of the cognitive processes of forensic experts. In particular, she is interested in the ways in which police facial examiners and fingerprint analysts process images during forensic comparison and the criteria they use to decide whether the images relate to the same person or two different people. The aim of her PhD is to produce a psychological model of expert performance and to provide an empirical basis for improving accuracy in forensic comparison tasks.
