About

Luigi Tamè is a Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience in the School of Psychology.

Research interests

Luigi's research is concerned with aspects of sensory perception and sensory-motor interaction. He uses a combination of psychophysics and neuroimaging techniques (eg fMRI, MEG, EEG, TMS) in order to define the behavioural and neural correlates of these phenomena. He is particularly interested in the sense of touch, its interactions with the other senses and the motor system, and the way in which touch is represented and elaborated by the brain.

His main areas of interest include:

  • Physiology of the sense of touch in healthy individuals
  • Neural basis of body representation in healthy individuals
  • Multisensory integration between vision and touch
  • The development of body knowledge during the first months of life
  • TMS, EEG and fMRI techniques

Luigi welcomes enquiries from prospective doctoral students interested in these or other related topics on somatosensation or multisensory and sensory-motor integration.
