Your PASS-port to Success
In line with University policy, the School of Politics and International Relations Personal Academic Support System (PASS) aims to provide the following:
- General academic guidance
- Assistance with academic problems or difficulties
- Individual progress monitoring
- Information about progression routes
- Support and guidance
- Personal development
Our Academic Support System
We consider your freedom to specialise in your area of interest, to read widely and independently, and to exchange ideas independently with a large number of staff and fellow students, to be an important part of the educational experience we are providing. Of course, we are happy to assist and guide you, not only through lectures and seminars, but also through a multi-layered support system.
The Student Support Team
The School has a dedicated Student Support Team, led by Amy Green our Student Support Manager, who is the linchpin of the entire system of student tutoring and progress monitoring. Amy is supported by our Student Support Co-Ordinator, Sam Critchley. The student support office (Rutherford N4.N5) should be your first point of contact for the majority of queries.
In addition to the help/guidance provided by the Student Support Manager, all students within the School of Politics & International Relations are allocated an Academic Adviser (at UG Level) or a Programme Adviser (at PG level). Your Adviser will remain the same throughout your time at Kent, and is there to support your academic needs and development.
Seminar leaders and module convenors
In the modules you are taking, you will have lectures, but also weekly one-hour tutorials/seminars. Both module convenors and Seminar leaders have regular office hours for further consultation.
Further information is found in Moodle on our Student Support page, all registered students have access to this and have been enrolled onto the page. If you have any difficulty accessing Moodle or any other questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
