Dr Radu-Florin Stancu

Visiting Researcher

Dr Radu-Florin Stancu completed his MSc in Photonics and Advanced Materials (Physical Engineering) in 2011 at the Facultatea de Stiinte Aplicate, Universitatea Politehnica Bucuresti in Romania. He then moved to the University of Kent where he gained a PhD in Physics in 2016.

Research interests

Dr Radu-Florin Stancu is currently involved in research on akinetic swept optical sources for optical coherence tomography (OCT) and other applications. He is also involved in educational research in mathematics and science (University Pathways Course; Subject Attainment Activities).

His previous research includes:

  • polarisation-sensitive OCT
  • OCT with Optical Delay Line and fibre bundles
  • industrial holography and engraving
  • photonics crystal computer design and optical simulations
  • solid-state cavity lasers and fibre lasers for lithotripsy.
