Why Kent?

Let's build a better world

We’re getting ready to open our campuses and look forward to welcoming our students back to Kent. We’re determined to give your child the highest quality education, with face-to-face teaching and the flexibility that comes with online options too.

So why should your child choose the University of Kent? We could start by describing our campuses and telling you all about our fantastic accommodation and exceptional facilities, but we're not going to (just yet). Our students, staff and alumni make the University what it is, and we think that's a pretty great place to begin.

Our community

Our first students (known as the 'First 500') chose Kent because they were excited by the opportunity to shape a new university and create a new student community. They set the precedent and our students continue to follow their example.

By choosing Kent, your child will be instrumental in creating their own experience, but they will also become today's trailblazers and help shape Kent for future generations.

We attract some of the most influential academics in their field who are passionate about study and debate. Active in research, they are at the forefront of developing new knowledge and they'll inspire your child to ask questions and to think independently.

We think it says a lot about Kent that many of our students never actually leave, or they end up returning! Many of our former students work for the University including our current Chancellor, the journalist and author Gavin Esler.

We have a number of alumni networks and groups around the world enabling former students to keep in touch, share stories and offer support. They also remember how it feels to leave university and regularly provide opportunities, advice and guidance for current students.
