Keith has a PhD in Economic History from the University of Kent and undertook research in business and financial history. More recently his academic interests have been in comparative higher education with an emphasis on different approaches to university governance in France and the UK. At Kent, Keith has worked in the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Humanities and the European office. Prior to Kent, Keith held a post at the University of Warwick working in the area of research grants and contracts and faculty administration.
Responsibilities include ensuring good University governance, in accordance with the University’s constitution, compliance with external requirements and the promotion of best governance practice
Keith is Secretary to the University Council, the governing body of the University, and the Court. He is responsible for ensuring good University governance, in accordance with the University’s constitution, compliance with external requirements and the promotion of best governance practice. Key parts of the role include the promotion of good two way communication between the executive of the University and the governing body and the smooth running of the Council and its related committees, such as Finance and Resources Committee, Audit Committee and Safety Health and Environment Executive Committee.
