Expert on suffragettes to discuss women in politics

Social Historian Dr Anne Logan will discuss the changing role of women in British politics as part of the Whitstable Literary Festival.

Dr Logan, of the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, is an expert on the women’s suffrage movement and the role of women in Kent during World War One, will share a platform with Jad Adams, author of Women and the Vote: A World History and Mary Honeyball, MEP on Saturday 14 May.

The discussion, entitled Suffragettes and Parliamentary Pioneers, will centre on the vote and women in politics, from the earliest pioneers to women in Kent who have helped change British society.

Dr Logan led an Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded collaborative project in 2012 with Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery, entitled Women in Tunbridge Wells: a Hidden History. More information and tickets.
