Kent has offered its congratulations to UltraSoC, a University spin-out company, following its acquisition by Siemens.

UltraSoC, which develops system-on-chip (SoC) technology, was founded at Kent following research funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). UltraSoC was spun out from Kent and the University of Essex in 2008 and over the past decade has become a leading company, developing technology which is now considered vital for the development of most modern products in the automotive, high-performance computing, storage and semiconductor industries.

Carole Barron, Director of Knowledge Exchange & Innovation at Kent said: ‘We would like to offer UltraSoC congratulations on this great news. The University is delighted to be part of the company’s heritage, and look forward to seeing it further flourish in the future.’

Professor Philippe De Wilde, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Innovation at Kent said: ‘This is significant news in the research community, demonstrating the role that strong university partnerships can play in developing innovative technology for industry. Kent is proud to have supported the initial development of UltraSoC within our academic community.’
