The February issue of Community, the University's newsletter for the residents and businesses of Canterbury, is now available.

The newsletter is available online and will also be delivered to residents and available on campus this week.

Highlights this issue include:

  • an update on campus developments including the final stages of our Framework Masterplan, siting for a potential hotel/conference facility and plans for housing our new Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS)
  • our impact on the South East region through, for example, driving economic growth and volunteering in the community
  • our inclusion in the UK’s 100 Best Breakthroughs of the last century listing for research, led by Professor Martin Warren in our School of Biosciences
  • Small Business Charter awarded to our Kent Business School, for its support for local small businesses and student entrepreneurship.
  • opening of our new Kent Community Oasis Garden and how you can get involved
  • key dates for the diary and useful contacts.

Royal Mail is delivering copies of the newsletter to more than 12,500 properties covering the postcode areas of CT1 2, CT2 7, CT2 8 and CT2 9 this week (beginning Monday 25 February).

Community is designed to keep local residents, businesses and community representatives up-to-date with the latest news and developments from the University of Kent. It is published four times a year – in February, May, August and November – and is delivered to 12,500 properties in Canterbury.

The newsletter can be read online in the community section of the University website. We will also be making printed copies available at a number of on-campus locations, as well as off-campus in The Beaney, The Tyler’s Kiln, Canterbury City Council offices in Military Road and Blean Village Hall.

We welcome feedback on our work and the way that we communicate with our community. If you have an idea for a story we should feature, if you’d like to comment on an aspect of our work, or if you have a question for us, email communityinfo@kent.ac.uk or write to Community, Corporate Communications, Room 155, The Registry, The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NZ.
