Kent publishes its second community newsletter

Charlotte Crooks

The latest edition of 'Community', the University's newsletter for the residents and businesses of north Canterbury, is now available to download.

Highlights from the September 2017 edition include:

  • A selection of latest news, including a welcome to Kent’s new Vice Chancellor, Professor Karen Cox; Kent’s TEF award; and key developments on the Canterbury campus.
  • A round-up of events and performances available to the public.
  • Student contribution to the local area through community development work, volunteering and fundraising.
  • Moving-in advice for students living off-campus.
  • The University’s commitment to community cohesion, featuring the Street Marshal Scheme and Kent’s complaints procedures.
  • Key dates for the diary and useful contacts.

Community has been created in response to conversations with local residents and community representatives as part of the University’s Masterplan consultation and the Canterbury City Council work on the impact of universities.

The introduction of the newsletter is just one of the ways Kent is enhancing its public engagement, strengthening partnerships with residents and businesses.

The newsletter is published three times a year – in May, September and January – and delivered by Royal Mail to 10,000 properties in north Canterbury.

To accompany this, we also publish the newsletter online as part of a set of webpages acting as our online information centre for the local community.

We welcome feedback on our community information provision. Questions, comments or suggestions can be sent in to communityinfo@kent.ac.uk or in writing to Community, Corporate Communications, Room 155, The Registry, The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent CT2 7NZ.
