Kent professor and John Lewis Partnership board director to speak at event on 22 September in Maidstone.

Kent Business School is hosting its first ‘on location’ Business Soundbites event at Maidstone Town Hall on Friday 22 September, discussing the topic of employee happiness and the benefits it can bring to organisations.

The event opens for registration and lunch from midday and then from 12:30pm will feature talks from University of Kent Professor Yannis Georgellis and Jane Burgess, a Main Board Director for the John Lewis Partnership.

Professor Georgellis talk will set the scene on the topic, reflecting on some of the issues surrounding this debate, including whether happy employees are more productive and whether the HR function could harness employee happiness and wellbeing in order to improve engagement, motivation, and organisational performance.

Jane Burgess, who is also a Lay Member of the Committee on Standards at House of Commons, will use her experiences working at John Lewis to explain how an increased emphasis on employee happiness has benefitted the Partnership.

There will also be a Q&A with the speakers followed by refreshments and networking before the event ends at 2pm. Attendance is free but those interested in going along are asked to register in advance to secure a place.

The full address of the event is Maidstone Town Hall, High Street, Maidstone, ME14 1TF.
