About

Melania Nica holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has taught Economics, Finance, and Mathematics for Finance courses at LSE, UCL, New College of the Humanities (NCH), and here at the University of Kent. Prior to joining SMSAS at Kent she was a Lecturer in Economics at NCH where she was also the co-ordinator of a new multidisciplinary research group. During her PhD she was also appointed as an LSE Fellow.

Melania’s research is in game theory. She has presented her research at prestigious conferences in the US and Europe. 

Research interests

Melania’s research interests are in applications of game theory to financial, actuarial, and economic issues. Her current projects are in the areas of: 

  • Career concerns and reputation formation
  • Social networks and corporate finance
  • Game theory applied to contracting in insurance

Supervision

Melania is happy to supervise students with prior exposure to advanced game theory courses.
