Sport and recreation is a hugely important part of life at the University of Kent. Kent Sport has something for everyone, whether you are an elite sports person or just wish to try new activities, lead a healthier lifestyle or make new friends.
Kent Sport recently completed a £4.8 million redevelopment of its sports facilities and programmes, providing members with the opportunity to experience sport either for leisure and recreation or to an elite competitive level using state of the art equipment.
Our on-campus facilities include a sports centre which boasts multi-purpose sports halls, a fitness suite, a fitness class studio and squash courts. At the Pavilion there is an indoor and outdoor tennis and netball centre, sports pitches, a cycle hub for bike hire, the Pavilion Cafe Bar and much more.
Kent Sport also offers a wide variety of fitness and dance classes, sports courses, workshops and fun tournaments throughout the academic year. Whether you fancy Zumba, Yoga, Body Pump or Pilates, there are plenty of activities to choose from and a variety of affordable membership levels are available.
Kent Sport run an expanding intercollege sports programme, which enables you to represent your college (all Kent students belong to one of our six colleges) in a number of sports competitions. You can also compete with staff and other Kent Sport members in our intramural sports programme, or try out a new activity and meet friends on our ‘Let’s Play’ programme.

The main University student sports clubs are managed and run by Team Kent, which is part of Kent Union. It runs over 40 student sports clubs, ranging from American football to kick-boxing, cricket, skiing, fencing and snowboarding. Team Kent has many highlights throughout the year such as Varsity: a charity sports competition between Kent and another university. We also have the Team Kent Ball, an event which celebrates the achievement of clubs and individuals within sport at Kent.
