Services for visitors and alumni
The Templeman Library welcomes visitors between 08:00 and 21:00 (see the Library's opening hours), and we look forward to meeting you when you visit.
The library has card-activated gates - please come through the Main Entrance and ask staff to let you through. If you're a regular visitor, consider getting a visitor card.
While the main function of the Library is to serve members of the University, we have a range of services for visitors.
Using books and resources in the Library
You are welcome to use the Templeman Library's collections for reference purposes.
For copyright reasons, we can't make subscription digital resources available to you, except those provided on a dedicated visitor PC. The recommended free resources at the bottom of these a-z pages have been selected by our academic librarians.
Academic visitors: if you belong to another Higher Education Institution you may be able to borrow from the Templeman Library via the SCONUL Access scheme. Check with your own institution's Library for information on access to other libraries.
If the SCONUL scheme is not relevant to you, you could choose one of our Templeman Library borrower membership options (charges may apply).
Special Collections and Archives
Our Special Collections and Archives hold unique collections on a wide range of subjects, including rare books, political cartoons, theatre, stand-up comedy, wind and water mills, the history of science and Kent local history.
Anyone is welcome to access the collections – make an appointment to view material.
