Online subject resources

Most of the resources below are freely available on the internet. In addition, the Library subscribes to a vast range of online resources: see other pages within this guide for bibliographic databases, and online reference works.

The following may be of interest:

  • Frantext: textual database of French texts, both literary and scientific, from the 9th through to the 20th century and includes major French books and writers such as Racine, Proust, Balzac; useful for the linguistic analysis of literary texts
  • Persée: Portail de revues scientifiques: gateway to free French online journals - all subject areas
  • Electronic Enlightenment: searchable correspondence of 18th century thinkers and writers
