  • Brief description: Black and white print of Hewlett Johnson with a painter in the U.S.S.R. in 1945. Hewlett is looking at the work of the painter, on an easel in the open air. There is no indication of place, but this is probably in Tashkent or Samarkand. Hewlett's diary records him going to Tashkent on 12th and Samarkand on 17th July.
