Dr Maayan Niezna

Lecturer in Law


Dr Maayan Niezna is a socio-legal scholar, and her research focuses on trafficking, labour exploitation and labour migration.

She holds an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an LLB in Law and Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She joined the Israeli Bar Association in 2012. Prior to her doctoral studies Dr Niezna worked on issues related to trafficking at the Hotline for Refugees and Migrants-Israel, UNHCR, and the Office of the National Anti-trafficking Coordinator, Israeli Ministry of Justice.  

Research interests

Dr Niezna’s research interests include critical approaches to human trafficking, labour migration, human rights, labour law, public law and judicial behaviour. She is also interested in legal philosophy, bureaucratic obstacles hindering the realisation of human rights, and analysis of legal interventions promoting human rights and social change.


Dr Niezna teaches on a variety of undergraduate modules at KLS, including Public Law, the Law of Contract, Critical Introduction to Law and English Legal System and Skills.
