Research Topic

Banking Stability and Social-Political Factors

After the recent Global Financial Crisis, there is an increasing interest for the factors that influence the stability of the financial system. My research focuses on uncertainty and its effect on the financial stability. Until now, studies show that uncertainty influences investments, economic growth and the welfare of the society as a whole. The research will focus on investigating the relation of uncertainty with the stability of the financial system by using newly developed measures of systemic risk and indices of uncertainty that are already well-established in the academia. This relationship will be investigated both in country and industry level. For the last parts of the dissertation, the focus will be on the effect of political and social factors on financial stability.
