Cultural orientation course: Studying and Living in the UK

What to expect in the UK academic environment

We are delighted to introduce our latest course, specifically designed for students wishing to study in the UK at foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate level. This course focuses on how culture might influence your approach to study and will also give you a clear overview of what academic skills will be expected of you as a student in the UK. The first delivery of the course will be in partnership with British Education Centre, India in August 2016.

During this five-day course you will gain experience of lectures, seminars and workshops and will contribute to discussions around cultural differences, learning styles, intercultural communication, and etiquette and cultural norms. You will also review the basics of academic study in the UK, covering seminar and presentation skills, accessing, assessing and using sources, academic register and style, and the importance of evaluation and critique. There will also be plenty of opportunities to discuss what life on a UK campus is really like.

This course will be delivered by our experienced Kent International Pathways staff, and where possible, with support from local counsellors and alumni, and can be delivered for specific institutions or partners.

Please contact us for any further information or if you would like to organise delivery of this course for your own students.
