How to apply

International Foundation Programme (IFP)

You will complete the module registration process during the first week of the programme when our staff will advise you about compulsory and optional modules depending on your intended programme of degree study.

There are three ways to apply:

1) You can apply online, using our direct online application

2) You can apply through one of our authorised overseas representatives in your own country

3) You can apply via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)

Entry requirements:

To gain entry on to the IFP programme, you need the following:

  • A good academic school-leaving certificate with particular strengths in subjects that are relevant
    to your intended area of study; for an indicative list of entry requirement for the most popular qualifications, see our IFP Entry Requirements page.
  • GCSE grade C Maths or equivalent for some degree programmes. If you do not have this level
    of qualification, you will need to take the IFP Maths module
  • 5.0 IELTS (with no less than 5.0 in each band) or equivalent.

Pre-sessional courses

The University of Kent offers specially designed programmes to prepare international students, who do not have English as a first language, for academic study. These courses focus on developing your English language and study skills so that you can meet the level of proficiency required for your chosen course of study. If you complete one of our Pre-sessional Courses, and achieve a final grade which meets your condition of entry, you will not need to take another IELTS examination.

JYA English Plus

To apply for JYA English PLUS you will need to make an application by 11 February 2017.

To complete your application, you need to supply the following supporting documents:

  • Certificates of your academic results to date
  • An academic reference
  • A personal statement
  • A copy of your passport

Pre-Master's GDip

Kent's Pre-Master's in Business, Management and Finance provides an international pre-master's route. The programme focuses on developing your academic subject knowledge for postgraduate study while improving your academic skills and English language proficiency.
