Creative Internship

Misty did a work placement with the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries organised through Kent's Employability Points scheme.

Misty's internship

What Misty said:

"I was in my third year when I did the internship, and I was looking to use the opportunity as a way of building upon the skills that I had gained both through my degree itself and through my previous work experience, in a professional environment in order to  bridge the gap between my education and full-time work.

The internship helped me to get some hands-on experience and insight into a creative organisation.

In the future I would love to work in a creative communications role, and through the internship, I gained a lot of transferable skills surrounding communications, marketing and events management which will be highly useful to my future career aspirations".

What we said:

Misty’s placement took place during a busy time for the institute and we were able to involve her in a variety of projects while she was here. Misty supported a focus group which we ran during her first week with us, involving around 12 students from across the University. Misty’s own insight and input was highly valuable.

We were very impressed by Misty’s maturity. She has a clear focus about her career and the areas she would like to work in and she has selected work experience and other extra curricular opportunities throughout her time at the University with specific career goals in mind.

Our work with students

The Institute is always looking for ways to connect with our student population, and provide opportunities to find out how we can enhance their experience while they are at Kent.

I love everything the ICCI is setting out to achieve! I learnt a lot during the internship and it has been a great experience overall in getting engaged with the creative industries.
