USS / Consultation on cost-sharing September 18

Welcome to the dedicated webpage for the employer-led consultation with active members of USS and eligible staff for the cost-sharing process. The consultation period commenced on 3 September and closed at 5pm on 2 November 2018. The USS consultation website is now closed.

 

USS announced in early May that there would be a requirement to follow the cost-sharing process in order to complete the latest valuation of the scheme, and that this required a statutory employer-led consultation.  This was led in parallel with, but entirely separate to, the work of the Joint Expert Panel (JEP) and the trustee will continue to engage constructively with the JEP. 

The University actively consulted directly with affected staff through this website and through other channels including email and Campus Online and the USS consultation website. Furthermore, two local consultation meetings at Kent were held with union and staff representatives on 10 September and 11 October 2018. The minutes of these meetings can be viewed on our consultation minutes page along with the collective response from Kent to the proposals.
