The University offers two principle pension schemes to its staff; the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) and the Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London (SAUL). These pages contain details of these schemes and links to relevant information.
|USS Pension: Concluding the 2017 valuation – 22 November 2018|
Responses made to the recent employer-led USS consultation process have now been considered and USS has confirmed that there will not be any changes to the cost-sharing arrangements from April 2019.

|USS Pension: Consultation closed for USS cost-sharing proposals – 2 November 2018|
The consultation process for the USS cost-sharing proposals closed at 5pm on Friday 2 November 2018 following a 60 day consultation period which opened on 3 September 2018.
During this consultation period, two local consultation meetings were held with staff and union representatives at Kent. A collective response has been submitted to USS and is available for viewing on the cost-sharing website.
|USS Pension: Response to claims of a 'large and demonstrable error'- 16 October 2018|
USS have responded to recent commentary regarding asset projections sent to Dr Sam Marsh, in his capacity as a member of the JNC. This is accompanied by a technical note from the USS Chief Risk Officer to further expand on the points discussed in the response.

|USS Pension: Joint Expert Panel publishes report - 03 October 2018|
The Joint Expert Panel (JEP) published their executive summary and first report of the USS 2017 valuation in September for consideration by UUK and UCU. The JEP was set up by UUK and UCU following the recent industrial dispute over the proposed changes to the scheme.
The work of the JEP is in parallel with, but entirely separate to, the USS consultation which commenced on 3 September 2018 and will close on 2 November 2018.

The USS Pension scheme consultation for the cost-sharing process commences 3 September until 2 November at 5pm with all members and eligible staff.
During this consultation period, there will be two local consultation meetings with staff and union representatives for members and eligible staff to channel their feedback on the cost-sharing proposals. Alternatively, feedback can be left directly through the USS consultation website.

|Proposed changes to the USS pension scheme - Update - 23 January 2018|
|The final proposal for change to the USS benefit structure has been agreed by the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC), which involves employers and UCU. The proposal can be viewed on the dedicated website. A formal employer consultation exercise with scheme members and affected staff is scheduled to begin on 19 March 2018.|
