Validity of passports and travel documents

From 16 May 2014, the Home Office changed the documentation which can be accepted to evidence a persons right to work in the UK. All non-EEA documentation must be current which includes:

  • Biometric Residence Permit (BRP);
  • Immigration status document;
  • Passport
  • Residence Card (including Accession Residence Cards and Derivative Residence Cards)

UK Immigration endorsements in an expired passport are not acceptable.  Individuals are required to transfer their visa to a new passport (if applying outside of the UK) or apply for a Biometric Immigration Document. https://www.gov.uk/transfer-visa

Individuals must not commence employment until acceptable documentation is produced.
