Recognising Excellence in Academia/
Academic Career Map
The Academic Career Map (ACM) is a framework to set out relevant expectations, support development and recognise achievements at each academic career stage (Lecturer/Research Associate/Research Fellow; Senior Lecturer/Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow; Reader and Chair) and will include indicative examples of work activities, standards and behaviours. It will come into effect for the 2019/20 academic year.
The project team held several staff engagement and consultation events throughout November and December, and received some helpful feedback. A few amendments were made to the ACM as a result. It was then submitted to the relevant committees for formal consultation and approval in March.
The ACM has now been approved by all relevant committees (JSNCC, Senate and SPC); together with a new Academic Promotion Policy, which has been revised to align with the ACM. The final content of the ACM is available on the ACM pages via the link above. The project team are developing further detailed guidance to accompany the ACM, to include how it will apply to the promotion process.
Please click on the Information Sessions link above for details of the launch events we will be running to brief staff on the ACM and new policy.
