Leadership and Management Programmes

The University is committed to delivering a range of leadership and management programmes to provide support and further development for managers and help build leadership skills at all levels across the University. Please see the Leadership and Management Development opportunities available.

New Senior Leaders' Programme

Newly appointed senior leaders (NSL), are invited to participate in the annual residential 2-day induction event held in September.  The induction event provides an opportunity to bring new senior leaders together as a group and to work closely with EG members, Deans and other senior colleagues to be briefed and discuss key areas, including the role of the Head, Finance and People Management. 

This event also serves to launch the supporting programme of workshops and to elicit the views of the cohort on content.  The programme provides opportunities for the individuals to meet regularly as a group to focus on relevant topics including strategic leadership & planning, financial and student planning and leading and managing people in a diverse and inclusive cultureParticipants are also offered the opportunity to work with an executive coach on a one to one basis and are encouraged to consider being mentored.

Delegates get access to, and develop an understanding of, the University’s Leadership Behaviour Framework as part of this programme. The framework is used to support their individual development and is linked to workshop activities, action learning and coaching.
