Clemence is an experienced HR/OD practitioner with a passion for engagement and talent management. She has worked across varied sectors of activity and supported a wide range of organisations in  leading and embedding change. In her current role at the University of Kent, she has strategic responsibility for Learning, Organisational Development and EDI. This includes ensuring effective strategies for leadership, management and talent development, supporting and enabling cultural change, assisting team effectiveness and dynamics by creating bespoke interventions and supporting schools and departments to align staff effort to the achievement of institutional and departmental plans.

Claire is an experienced L&OD Consultant, specialising in leadership development, organisational change and compliance. Before joining Kent, she held leadership roles within the manufacturing industry, including the pharmaceutical and food sectors.

Claire’s previous experience includes operating as an L&OD and Operational Excellence Manager within a multi-site organisation. She advised and supported the executive team to create the organisation’s learning and development strategy. She led the team implementing continuous improvement initiatives and value added activities. As an L&OD Manager with Bakkavor, she led her local L&OD function on the implementation of a corporate training framework and the development of a leadership programme at an organisational level. She was an active member of the organisation’s Learning Centre of Expertise, designing and delivering a management toolkit for people managers.

Claire has a broad HR & OD background. She has significant experience of implementing change and providing guidance, advice and support for managers and leaders on strategic OD projects in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturing.      

Claire is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and an approved A1 Assessor. She holds a Belbin Team Roles accreditation.

Lyn is an experienced L&OD Consultant, specialising in leadership development and organisational change, including executive coaching. Prior to joining Kent, she operated her own HR consultancy business. In addition to supporting a range of public, private and third sector clients during periods of corporate realignment and culture change, she carried out detailed reviews and investigations into complex and/or sensitive employee relations issues, especially at executive and Board level.

Lyn is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a Member of the Association for Coaching.  She is an approved Assessor and Internal Moderator (to Level 7) of the Institute of Leadership & Management.

Jena is an experienced L&OD professional with an ongoing passion and appreciation for the importance and impact of continuous learning. Since graduating with a degree in Russian and Business Studies, Jena has worked in a variety of sectors and industries. Throughout her career Jena has designed and delivered an expansive range of development opportunities, aligning staff development with organisational strategic aims and identifying emerging development needs.  
Jena delivers on a number of our management and leadership programmes and personal and professional effectiveness courses. Jena is the lead for Women’s leadership, including designing and facilitating our in house senior women’s leadership programme “Insights”.
Jena’s strength comes through her ability to use her business experiences to understand the knowledge and skills staff need to increase their performance and productivity. 
Jena is an Associate Member of the CIPD.

Laura has a generalist HR background and has worked in a variety of HR roles across the public and private sector as well as at other Higher Education Institutions.

Laura is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and has an MSc in Human Resource Management and a Level 5 Certificate in Coaching.

Since joining the Learning & Development team at Kent in late 2015, Laura delivers our management programmes and personal and professional effectiveness courses and is the L&OD lead on Technician Commitment and researcher development.

Ali has worked at the university since 2005 during which time she has undertaken a variety of roles within our Human Resources team, giving her broad ranging experience and sound experience of HR transactional duties, specialist HR employee relations casework management and hands – on design, development and delivery of training and informal development learning opportunities for staff within the organisation, as well as a strong network of colleagues. Ali has significant organisational knowledge which provides a strong base for supporting managers and staff with their development, especially in areas of effective leadership & management, working within organisational policies and procedures, implementing & managing change and maintaining resilience & wellbeing. Ali is also taking a lead for the L&OD team in progressing digital and online learning for staff.

Previously to working in HE, Ali worked in the hospitality trade for almost 14 years working extensively within customer service, front of house and hotel management, as well as being a qualified chef.

Ali is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD), an ILM qualified coach, holds certifications in Blended Learning (TAP) and Crucial Conversations (VitalSmarts), and a level 3 Award in Education and Teaching.

Lucy has worked at the University for over 25 years starting in an academic school and then moving into to Staff Development, now known as Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD).

In L&OD, Lucy started as a coordinator and is a key member of staff being involved in all aspects of coordination of in-house L&OD training. Lucy is also responsible for the L&OD webpages and the central staff induction.

In 2017, Lucy became the Senior L&OD coordinator, with the primary responsibility of managing the L&OD finances and budget and projects within the team.

Lucy has the ECDL qualification and an NVQ in Business Administration.

Julie joined the University in 1999 working in the Summer Academy Head Office, a small department which administered a range of residential UK study courses to students from across the world. Since then Julie has worked in HR as an Equality and Diversity Administration Assistant, gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge within this area.

Julie joined the L&OD team in 2017 as an L&OD Co-ordinator, organising a portfolio of staff development activities and in-house training courses. Julie is committed to supporting and progressing EDI within the organisation and is the L&OD contact for both the University’s EDI Network and Harassment Contact Network.

Whilst working at the University, Julie has completed numerous training programmes including the ECDL Qualification and National Certificate in Workplace Mediation.

Kitty has worked in the Learning and Development team since 2012, developing  from an Assistant to her current role of Coordinator. Kitty organises a broad range of L&OD courses and activities including our Leadership and Management programmes, personal and professional effectiveness courses and ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the office. Kitty supports the work of the EDI Governance Group and is the L&OD contact for the University’s LGBT network.

Since joining the team, Kitty has completed her ECDL qualification, and is currently undertaking her Level 3 Learning and Development Apprenticeship standard, and is a student member of the CIPD.

Helen is an L&OD Coordinator, primarily responsible for organising, coordinating and following up on, staff training. Helen’s previous experience includes operating as an L&OD Officer and Consultant at the Head office of a large Insurance company. As an L&OD Officer with Allianz Insurance, she designed and facilitated training programmes at the companies bespoke training college. Helen was also responsible for working with the managers and staff in the Life Division to identify and meet their training needs. Following a move to Kent, Helen’s comprehensive L&OD background was further developed by running her own consultancy business. 

Helen is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) holds the Financial Planning Certificate (Chartered Insurance Institute) and has a qualification in educational administration.

Loretta has experience exceeding 16 years of working within Higher &Further Education, supporting a range of business sectors in raising awareness how businesses benefit from employee development through Apprenticeships, training, professional learning and development. 

Since starting at Kent in 2017, Loretta now specializes in supporting employees that would like to understand how their careers can benefit by undertaking an Apprenticeship.  Loretta has built up a network of training providers and specialists to be able to offer a wide range of standards to all levels of staff.
Loretta’s career has always involved working and engaging with people, advising and ensuring they have good advice and information to choose the right learning and training activities.  Combined with working within businesses that have gone through significant change and mergers, Loretta knows and understands the importance of good communication, staff development and how it can lead to business improvements.  This experience was used whilst Loretta completed a Post-Grad in Management with the University of Kent.
