As Europe's largest lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) charity, Stonewall know that people perform better when they can be themselves. That's why they created Diversity Champions, the leading employers' programme for ensuring all LGBT staff are accepted without exception in the workplace. Stonewall work with over 700 organisations, all of whom share their core belief in the power of a workplace that is truly equal.
Diversity Champions Programme
The University of Kent is a member of the Diversity Champion Programme. Stonewall's Diversity Champions programme is a best practice employer's forum for sexual orientation and gender indentity, equality, diversity and inclusion. Stonewall are currently working with 750 members across public, private and third sector organisations to help them create inclusive and accepting workplace environments.
Workplace Equality Index
Taking part in Stonewall's Workplace Equality Index is an effective way to measure efforts to tackle discrimination and create and inclusive workplace for LGBT employees and the extensive criteria covers a range of areas including policies, employee engagement, Learning and Development activities and community engagement.
This year, the University achieved a ranking of 149 in the 2015 index and entry into the top 150 represents a rise of 176 places since the first submission by Kent in 2012, and a rise of 113 place since last year. Sector Comparison: The University was ranked 15th out of 47 HE Sector applicants, with 10 HEIs making the top 100.
