Protected Characteristics

The Equality Act protects us all against discrimination on the basis of the protected characteristics we may have.

The Equality Act also makes it illegal to discriminate against those who:

  • Are associated with someone who has a protected characteristic;
  • Are perceived to have a protected characteristic (which they do not actually have);
  • Have complained about discrimination/supported a claim.
