Research Student

About

Ellis Spicer completed her BA (2015) and MA (2016) in History at the University of Kent before beginning her PhD studies.

Research interests

Ellis's research looks at organisations such as the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR), the ’45 Aid Society and the Child Survivors’ Association of Great Britain. These three groups were formed in a variety of contexts in post-war Britain.

Her research looks at the varying and subjective definitions of a survivor, debates surrounding survivor hierarchy, survivor associations as a surrogate family, their relationships with the second generation and how survivors interpret current events through the lenses of their experiences.
