School of History

Joint Honours

The School of History is renowned for its' flexible undergraduate programmes, and wide range of modules. For those who wish to combine the study of multiple disciplines, our '50:50' Joint Honours combinations provide even greater choice for our undergraduates.

Joint Honours programmes allow students to follow the same course structure as the History BA, whilst only choosing half the modules. The other half are assigned and administered by School responsible counterpart subject.

Our programmes are carefully crafted to allow undergraduates to tailor their degree to their own interests. As such, History only has one first-year core module: Making History, which aims to ease the progression from further education by providing an essential grounding in the disciplines and skills required for historical study.

The first year also provides an ideal opportunity for students to experiment with different areas of academic study. Students are encouraged to investigate areas of history that they have not studied before, in order to enable them to make informed decisions regarding second and third-year study options, leading in to their dissertation.
