New students

Welcome from Kent Union and GK Unions!

Firstly, a huge welcome to Kent!

Kent Union and GK Unions are run by students, for students. Kent Union is your 'home' student union, to which all University of Kent students belong. GK Unions works in partnership with Kent Union to represent Medway students so, if you're studying at Medway, you get the best of both worlds as you're a member of Kent Union and GK Unions.

From campaigns and elections, sports to societies, nightclubs to cafés and jobs and advice, you name it, we’ve got it!

We're here to make sure that you have the best possible experience alongside your academic studies. As your students' union, we ensure that you're represented on the issues that are important to you, and you are listened to by both the University and the wider local and national communities. We're proud to be a campaigning and membership charity and 2017-18 is going to be a big year for us. We look forward to you getting involved and participating in all we do!

We hope you settle in quickly and we have loads of events happening in Welcome Week which will soon make you feel at home. However, if you do experience any problems during the first few weeks, feel free to come and have a chat with us. We're based in the Mandela Building at Canterbury and the Student Hub at Medway.

University is one of the most amazing times in your life where you really do get to meet all kinds of people and study the subject you love. The only piece of advice that I would give you is to get involved in as many activities as you can so you can make the most out of your university experience.

See you in Welcome Week - do come and say hello!
