Make Your Mark

Engage in student enterprise to enhance employability potential and gain core skills employers are looking for in future recruits.

Through its increasingly popular and successful Make Your Mark programme, Kent prepares its students for employment or self-employment by offering a dynamic support package of innovative and creative extra-curricular activities designed to increase their skills, abilities, experience and confidence from first year to Masters level. To continually refresh and maximise the effectiveness of the programme Kent works closely with companies such as Santander, Coca Cola Enterprise, IBM and BAE Systems, as well as partners such as Virginia Tech. Make Your Mark consists of three inextricably linked areas:

Hub for Innovation & Enterprise Student Enterprise and Start-Up

Hub for Innovation & Enterprise

Hub for Innovation & Enterprise, is the University of Kent's dedicated hub for student entrepreneurship, start-up support and incubation.

The Hub is supported by two key strands – Student Enterprise to support students with their entrepreneurial ideas and Start-Up for potential business owners looking to take their innovative ideas forward.

The new hot desking environment puts entrepreneurs among other like-minded people, which is fantastic because being a start-up can sometimes get lonely.  All of this is situated conveniently just a short distance from central campus amongst a thriving business environment within CIC.

Employability Points Scheme

The Employability Points Scheme is a unique-to-the-sector, initiative has attracted the attention of BIS, other UK HEIs and international HEIs. EPS awards students points for engaging in extracurricular activities, depending on level of engagement and commitment. The points lead to prizes ranging from corporate activities to work experience, training and internships. All rewards are carefully selected based on their ability to incentivise students to reflect on their experience and develop themselves, so not only are students enhancing their skills through the activities, but the rewards themselves are increasing their long term employability.
