I am interested in the idea of ‘sameness’ and commonality in literature, across different time periods, cultures, and national frontiers. I try to find links between East and West, and dismantle the rigid binary of East/West. I am also interested in Bedouin literature and studies, an area which has not been established and I hope to shed light upon lesser know literatures of the East. Broadly speaking, I am interested in the intersections of race, gender, and disability studies. Specifically, I am interested in different understandings of ‘disability’ in different cultures and the meanings attached to them.
I write for an online magazine entitled “Arab Women Now.” I also teach writing to undergraduates at various colleges in Kuwait.
