Federico Schena obtained a Degree in Medicine with specialization in Sport Medicine. His research education has been completed by a PhD in Physiology at University of Verona and a postdoc at University of Geneva. He is actually professor of Sport Sciences at the Dept. of Neurological Sciences and Movement of University of Verona.
His research interests are the energetic of locomotion and cardiovascular and muscular sport physiology, with special attention on aerobic performance and its evolution in the life span ( including the relationship between ageing and physical activity). He published more than 150 scientific papers on indexed journals.
His experience in endurance sports belongs from the prolonged activity ( from 1999 to now) as director of the Center of Research ‘Mountain, Sports and Health’ based in Rovereto (Italy), which included the responsibility of medical and scientific staff of the Italian Nordic ski teams from 2003 to 2009, also integrated by a never ended personal engagement in several endurance sports.
