Dominic is currently the Dean of Academic Partnerships at the University of Essex and a Senior Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Psychology. Prior to his academic career he served as a Royal Navy Submariner and Diver for 7 years and then as a Metropolitan Police Officer. He is a Chartered Psychologist, a Fellow of the British Association of Sports & Exercise Sciences and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. His research activities and associated publications have primarily focused on the cognitive and psychophysiological mechanisms of fatigue and pacing among athletes. In particular, his work has attempted to explaining how athletes experience and interpret their internal physiological state in the context of their external environment, and how perceptual integration influences athletic decision-making and the regulation of physical exertion to avoid premature fatigue during exercise. Dominic is the founder and former Head of the Sport, Performance and Fatigue Research Unit at the University of Essex and a former Chair of the Division of Sport & Performance at the British Association of Sport & Exercise Science. back to top
